"Now if only there was a zelda time attacking site :("
I feel the same way about having a time attack for Mega Man games.  Right now, I'm working on trying to clear Mega Man Zero 3 with an end ranking of S. (Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.) I've managed to clear the intro stage in 1'25", clear the first fire stage using only the Z Saber, and cleared the fire monkey's stage in 2'15'.

The more, the merrier. We could use some more players to make the contests more exciting. I would have never known this place existed if not for NintenDan's little contest on GameFaqs. We need to make our presence known in order to attract more players. The idea someone mentioned about some Sonic history is also a good idea.

Gaming and Grazing / Yay, i got to try out the Nintendo DS today!
« on: November 19, 2004, 01:07:41 pm »
I also got to play with the Nintendo DS at EB yesterday. The controls were weird. Shooting enemies by using the stylus allows for very accurate shooting without moving your chracter, but it requires that you waste a round turning and also means that you cant fire while turning. I predict that the stylus shooting set up will cause problems if a player runs into a really fast enemy or gets flanked. The double screen will be perfect for games such as Final Fantasy or the current style of Castlevania games as a method for quickly managing items, spells, the mini map, etc.

"All I did was start the level a weird way, which is a glitch that's inside the level."
I've heard about some glitch where if you start some levels of SA2 Battle by doing a weird combination of moves, you can pass through the floor and get a really good time. Is this what's being talked about? If it its, then it definately undermines competitive gameplay (in this case it could degrade the SA2B time attack section into a contest of who can abuse the weird start glitch the fastest) and should be a banned technique. This "weird level starting" glitch reminds me of the infamous "Roll Cancel Bug". This bug actually degraded a high profile Capcom VS SNK tournament into a contest of who could abuse the bug more often and more effectively. The roll cancel incident can be found in an article from sirlin.net called "Playing to Win Part 2."

These are a long time ago, but I defeated the Kurt Ziza and Phantom boss battles in Kingdom Hearts. An update to the Mega Man Zero 3 goal I'm working on, I've just got through Copy X and I've still managed to maintain a 92 average score and get all the EX techniques. I also cleared the fire monkey's stage in exactly three minutes.
Edit: I managed to finish the whole game with an average score of 91, and defeated all of Omega's forms without using any fusion elves as well as destroy Phantom.

Beat Mega Man Zero 3 (with exception to Omega's final form) without using any Fusion Elves. As of now after completing the first 6 missions, my average score is 92. My fastest run through the missle stage is 3'02"

Information Kiosk / A Team Chaotix extra mission score attack.
« on: October 22, 2004, 01:37:15 pm »
I think a score attack for Team Chaotix extra missions should be added for completion purposes except stages 3, 9, and 13 since those objectives are similar to Team Sonic extra missions which are redundant in regards to competition.

It's been split? I thought it wasn't split yet because there's no Freestyle mode in the Sonic Heroes section of the competition.

2. Defeated Mega Man 7 Dr. Wily without using E Tanks.
3. Finished Castlevania Circle of the Moon in Vampire Killer, Magician, and Fighter modes.
I'm working on Buster only battling on Mega Man 4. So far I've beaten Toad Man, Bright Man, Pharoh Man, Ring Man, and Dust Man.

Gaming and Grazing / Reign of Satire
« on: October 01, 2004, 02:27:28 pm »
A lot has happened with WC3 in the past few months. Theres a new APM system, several new patches that added 3 neutral heroes, and new stuff to the World Editor (I'm working on a project of my own that I'll give more details about when the beta is ready.)
Back to RoS, I've got information about more heroes and some of the game's features.
1. Gruntapult. A parody of a popular early game Orc strat that Night Elf players have a hard time dealing with. It attacks by literately tossing Grunts at its enemies. Casts spells such as Cattle Prod, Shrapenel, Atomic Grunts, and Taurenapult.
2. Arch Editor (A hero that I created). A paranoid and crazy map maker. (Getting reworked since he's become buggy and thus won't appear in the beta). Casts spells such as Bug, Boot, Map Protector, and Rig.
3. Wisp of Doom. A parody of the very confusing wisp nerf that happened in patch 1.13. Casts spells such as Teleport, Confuse, Flamethrower, and Wisp Swarm (can't remember name but acts as Starfall).
4. Griefer. An embodiedment of online gaming evil. Every non cheating or obscene bad thing that people do to each other in online gaming this guy invented it. Casts spells such as Pre-Team and others I can't recall
5. Back Stabber. A hero that likes to betray his own team for the fun of it. Casts spells such as Backstab, Piss-off, Farm Wall, and BS Influence.
-This game has other features such as the ability to go to mercenary camps/shops such as a Troll Infested Forum, Fanboy Forum, Channel of the Dammed, Beta Shop (contains characters based on models of early beta WC3 units or units that got cut such as the Beta Crypt Lord), mascots the team can build to give them bonuses, and secret characters such as the LUEser, Matrix Panda, and Viewtiful Joe (coming in full version).

Gaming and Grazing / Reign of Satire
« on: October 01, 2004, 12:35:27 pm »
I'd like to announce that a beta version of a project I've been working on (as a concept designer, idea maker, and when needed suggesting methods of executing planned ideas via triggers and use of the game's spells) with about 10-15 people for about a year will be released within 48 hours. During the process, I came up with the name by which the team calls themselves which is Satire Team. Note: Once the beta testing is finished (which should take a month), the full version will be released to the public. The project in question is a Warcraft III map called Reign of Satire. RoS is a capture the flag style game that is a parody of Warcraft and its online community (although some of the themes in the map can be extended to other online places as well). The finished version will feature over 20 heroes such as:
1. Troll Lord, an evil user that enters forums and spreads chaos. Can use spells such as Uber Flame, Spam Topic, Mass Frosties=Instant Win, and other spells.
2. Star Craft Fanboy, a utter devotie to Starcraft who goes around claiming that Wc3 is the suxxor. Can use spells such as Cloak, Feed Back, Broodling, Stim Pack, and Nuclear Launch.
3. Cheese Master, a parody of the Beast Master abuse that infested pre 1.13 WC3 days. (Don't have any spell info since this hero is being reworked thus not availible in the beta)
4. Hack Master. A pathetic player that wins his games by cheating. Can use spells such as Map Hack, Lag Hack, Disconnect Hack, CD Key Generator, and Name Spoof.
5. Balance Guru (Used to be Patch Master). A Blizzard Employee that's dedicated to his version of balance. Don't get him mad or he might nerf you. Can use spells such as Over Power, Under Power, Update Rain, and Uber Nerf.
6. Newb Warrior. A naive player whos stupidity incites the flames of people arround him. Can use spells such as Incite Flames, Abusive Armor, Rely on Allies, Negative APM, and Strength and Honor.
I'll have more information later if anyone's interested.

2. Defeated Galamoth with Richter in Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
3. Defeated Dracula without using any weapons in Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

Will the Team Blast Glitch be split in the Sonic Heroes section? I suggest that time should be one weight, score should be .9-1 weight, rings should be .25 weight, and everything else be .75 weight.

Competition Central / Sonic center should accept super hard mode times
« on: September 20, 2004, 06:31:37 pm »
Difficulties with recording your score and time is my reason for not supporting adding Super Hard mode to the competition. If it weren't for that, I'd support its addition.

Competition Central / What do you just love to compete in?
« on: September 12, 2004, 12:22:47 am »
Score attack. When you really think about it, score attacking takes a lot of skill to be really good at since you have to combine the defensive skills encouraged in ring attacking, the speed of time attack and aggressive playing style needed to land tricks and get good points from enemies to get a really good score.

News and Updates / Splitting Team Blast Glitch
« on: September 10, 2004, 12:44:44 pm »
In regards to the team blast glitch, all Team Dark time attacks, Team Dark Extras, bosses, and Team Chaotix ring attacks should get top priority for inspection to determine if the TBG was used. For example, in the Egg Hawk battle, it takes about 12-15 seconds to reach the area where you can start inflicting major damage on it and I'm certain that its impossible to naturally fill up the TB gauge and still get a good time. With Egg Emperor, it takes about 30-32 seconds (assuming you get all the level ups along the way) to get to the area where you can damage it.

Here's my thoughts on  the ranking system.
In general, score, bosses, and time should have equal weight while rings have slightly less weight. The team blast gltich stuff should be moved rectroactively.

The team blast glitch is while in flight formation, you push B+Y (safest method) or B+X. If you do it right, your team blast gauge builds up really fast. Its not worth doing because it causes a nasty noise that's just plain irritating to the ears. None of my records are influenced by the glitch.

General Sonic / Which is your favorite team?
« on: August 26, 2004, 07:42:22 pm »
Team Dark, mostly because the heavy combat gameplay style was the most fun for me to play/compete in. Team Sonic is a close second despite the voice acting of Tails.

Thank you.  :D  The new rule has given me a new found motivation to compete in Team Dark times and all boss battles. One question, does Freestyle count towards ranks or is it purely for recreation?

What's freestyle? I believe the team blast glitch should be banned from all boss battles and 2nd objectives in stages. For example, I know from experience that it takes at least 30 seconds for a team to reach the area in the Egg Emperor boss battle where you can start to inflict major damage to it.
